Prepare stock for dispatch

Release responsibility matters as much as storage location.

Goods can be physically available in a warehouse without being ready to leave. A dispatch depends on stock identity, release authority, picking accuracy and the collection arrangement. Reviewing these separately helps avoid treating every delay as a transport problem.

Start with the release instruction. Confirm the stock references, quantities and the party authorised to approve movement. Check whether the customer requires a particular batch, packaging condition or supporting record before the pick is made.

Stage goods where the collection team can inspect and load them without disrupting receiving activity. The dispatch space should support the load sequence and preserve access to identification. Mixing several movements in one unmarked area increases the chance of a picking error.

Complete the cargo information after picking, not solely from an earlier inventory estimate. Changes in pallet count or packaging should reach the transport coordinator before collection. Confirm that handling equipment remains appropriate for the prepared load.

Close the inventory movement and retain the release evidence together. If only part of an order leaves, record the balance explicitly. A clear dispatch record helps the customer distinguish goods still held in storage from goods already in the next transport leg.
